Relax in an instant with the straw breath.

Our breath is the most powerful tool that is always available to us. Humans are always breathing, but most of the time people are not breathing consciously. When we make it a conscious activity we are able to shift our bodies immediately. The straw breath is a tool always available to help calm the body and mind. Learn how to do this relaxing breath below.

What is the straw breath?

The straw breath is a breathing technique that immediately calms the body.

How do you do it?

There are two parts to the straw breath. The first is breathing through the nose. If that is not available for your body, breathe in through your mouth. Now the important part: imagine there is a straw dangling from your lips. This is the shape you will create with your mouth as you breathe out.

Now, let’s put the two parts together. Breathe in deeply through your nose and as you exhale breathe out through your mouth with softly pursed lips are if you are breathing through a straw.

How does it work?

The straw shape of the mouth slows down the amount of breath leaving the body. Thus, extending the breath. When we slow down the breath, we slow the mind.

What are the benefits?

Unlike many other breathing techniques, the straw breath can be done anywhere. The eyes can be open and the movement of the mouth is not drastic, so it is not very noticeable.

The straw breath boosts the immune system, reduces headaches, balances blood sugar, calms emotions, and decreases stress.
